Doctors at St. Bernards are urging people in the area to receive skin cancer screenings.
Skin cancer is the most easily diagnosed form of cancer and can be treated when caught in its early stages.
Many people in the Northeast Arkansas area spend a significant amount of time outdoors, increasing their chances of getting skin cancer.
According to Dr. Mazen Khalil, physician at St. Bernards Cancer Center, skin cancer is commonly treated by a simple incision or the removing of the spot from the skin.
Statistics show that 1 in 5 people are diagnosed with skin cancer by the age of 70, making it important to receive screenings often.
